Act 1 Scene 2: Claudius, the new king of Denmark, gave a speech to his council. His nephew Hamlet, the prince of Denmark, joined the ceremony too. The king presented a well prepared speech about his new title as a king, about the tragic death of his brother, the previous king, and about his marriage with the queen. He also mentioned the conflict with the king of Norway which he expected to be over soon. Laertes, the son of the counsellor Polonius, asked Claudius for permission to return to his university in France. The king allowed him to leave Denmark but refused Hamlet's request to leave as well. Horatio, a good friend of Hamlet, reported about his experience of the previous night. Hamlet believed him that the ghost was his fathers appearing and didn´t hesitate to look for him.
